Benji B Presents… Deviation Volume 1 is the first official mix and compilation by Benji B, BBC Radio 1 DJ and respected figurehead of the UK club scene. The three CD compilation were released on 16th December 2016 via Benji’s own label, Deviation Music.
Deviation Vol. 1 showcases the biggest songs from Benji B’s radio show and the club, as well as exclusives from Hudson Mohawke and Karriem Riggins. Almost all of these artists have performed at a Deviation event or been guests on the radio show, from Jamie xx, James Blake and FKA twigs to The Internet, Flying Lotus and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke. They are places where crossover Pusha T anthems can be played alongside deep dance floor cuts such as Martyn’s ‘Fashion Skater’, where warming up with D’Angelo’s ‘Really Love’ can also mean getting hype with Skepta’s ‘Lyrics’. For the initiated the mix included here will be like a tape from an old friend, with a few familiar favourites alongside some brand new discoveries. For others it is the perfect introduction to the Deviation sound.
